If we wish to experience happiness and good fortune in our lives we need to accumulate merit. Merit, or positive energy, comes from positive actions and enables us to fulfil all our wishes including our spiritual wishes to improve our mind and attain enlightenment.
The practice of offering mandalas is one of the best ways to accumulate this merit and has been used by Buddhists for generations. Through the practice of offering mandalas our mind will gradually become more calm and peaceful and we will make swift, easy progress along the spiritual path.
When offering a mandala we imagine we hold a pure universe in our hands which we offer to all the Buddhas while making a compassionate prayer that all beings enjoy such pure lands.
Deepening Our Faith
During this retreat, we also have the opportunity to strengthen our connection with our Spiritual Guide through the practice of Guru Yoga. By mentally offering the mandala to our Spiritual Guide, we deepen our faith and draw closer to this supreme spiritual friend.
There are four sessions a day. Each session lasts for an hour and a half and consists of chanted prayers sung in English and a period of silence for offering mandalas. You can attend any or all of the sessions and there is no charge. If you haven’t been to the Centre before, it is suggested that you arrive 5-10 minutes early so someone can show you around.
Everyone is welcome to enjoy this special opportunity.
