About Us

Kadampa Meditation Centre Perth is a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to create peace and harmony within our world. Our Centre in East Fremantle provides a comfortable and relaxed environment in which everyone, whether Buddhist or non-Buddhist, can discover the benefits of meditation and modern Buddhism for themselves. Everyone is welcome.

What is Modern Buddhism?

We offer a modern presentation of Buddhism that enables people with busy lives to experience deep and lasting happiness.

The instructions given at our classes are grounded in ancient wisdom and have been handed down in an unbroken lineage since the time of Buddha. Revitalised by contemporary Meditation Master, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, especially for the people of the modern world, our classes offer practical methods for solving the real-world problems we face, as well as scientific methods for improving our human nature and qualities through developing the capacity of our mind.

Our Centre's Program

We offer a rich program of classes, courses and in-depth study programs at the Centre. We also hold weekly classes in various locations throughout metropolitan Perth, so that you don’t have to travel far for your weekly meditation “top up”. These classes are all taught by qualified Kadampa meditation teachers who are continuously improving their understanding and practice of Buddhist meditation through the in-depth study programs offered at the Centre.

Everyone Welcome

Our classes are open to everyone, regardless of background or level of experience. We cater for those who simply want to calm their mind, those who want effective strategies for improving the quality of their life right now, and those looking to embark on the complete path of inner transformation that Buddha taught. In other words, you don’t need to be a Buddhist to come to our classes; everyone can benefit from these practical instructions for living a more peaceful, joyful life.

Our Resident Teacher

Kelsang Tara is a fully ordained Australian Buddhist nun and the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Perth.

Tara has been studying and practising Kadampa Buddhism for many years, and ordained as a Buddhist nun in 2015. Tara’s inspiring teachings reflect her sincere wish to help those in need and to share her experience of Buddha’s life-changing instructions with others.

Volunteering and Donations

KMC Perth is dedicated to bringing inner peace and happiness to the people of Perth and beyond. Every Kadampa Centre is completely run by volunteers and it is through the generous support of the community that we are able to offer classes and courses throughout Perth – from those who drop in to the Centre to help out on occasion through to our dedicated managers and teachers.

If you have the wish to help out in any way please let us know. You don’t need any particular skills or make any regular commitment. Our volunteers are from all walks of life and help us with a vast range of tasks. Any help is welcome. Please email admin@meditateinperth.org to enquire about volunteering.

If you wish to make a one-time or recurring donation to the Centre’s activities, you can do so at any time. Every donation regardless of size, is a significant contribution.
