Kadampa Meditation Centre Perth is turning 30 this year!

Originally known as Dharmapala Buddhist Centre, we are the first Kadampa Centre in Australia; founded by world-renowned meditation master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. Thousands of West Australians have crossed the threshold of our many locations over the years, discovering the mental peace and inner freedom that come from practicing Buddha’s life-changing wisdom.

We’re celebrating this milestone with a full weekend of events and everyone is invited!

Public Talk: A Life Beyond Fear | Friday 31 October 7.00 – 8.30pm

at Fremantle Town Hall, doors open 6pm

Is a life beyond fear even possible?

According to Buddha, fear arises from how we respond to our environment, not from the environment itself. The fear and anxiety that we experience is therefore not inevitable.

Through the practice of meditation, we can begin to overcome our fear and start moving towards states of mind that naturally give rise to peace, confidence and a strong sense of purpose.

Based on over 30 years of experience of meditation, Buddhist monk Gen Kelsang Rabten, senior disciple of the great Buddhist teacher, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, will guide us into recognizing our potential for a meaningful and joyful life truly beyond fear.

Early-bird price $25 available for the month of June ($30 after June)

Day Workshop: Faith: How to Rely Upon a Spiritual Guide | Saturday 1 November · 9.00am to 3:00pm

at Kadampa Meditation Centre Perth, 158 Canning Hwy, East Fremantle, doors open 8.30am

The quickest way to make progress in anything in life is to rely upon the skilful guidance of a person who is already fully accomplished in what we are trying to achieve. For example, if we want to learn to play a musical instrument or to speak a new language we first find someone who is qualified to teach us.  This is also true in our spiritual life – we need to rely upon an authentic and well-qualified Spiritual Guide to help us make swift progress in our spiritual training.

All schools of Buddhism agree that the practice of relying upon a Spiritual Guide, is the root of the spiritual path and the foundation of all spiritual attainments. In this workshop, senior Buddhist teacher Gen Kelsang Rabten will explain how to develop confidence and trust in a Spiritual Guide, why having a Teacher or Spiritual Guide is central to our spiritual progress, and how to deepen our experience of the precious practice of reliance on our Spiritual Guide.

$75 including lunch and refreshments. Discounted price available for Members.

Description

Following the chanted prayer practice Offering to the Spiritual Guide and a brief community talk by Gen Rabten, we will come together as a community to celebrate our 30th anniversary informally over nibbles and drinks.
